Once again, I drive, Kelley flies. My trucks’s full of materials and equipment, her mind’s full of dangerous (but interesting) ideas. These pics are primarily hers. A quick re-cap, starting with the pour…
Part 2, the 2010 culmination of… A Wintery Trip To Vegas, Where Sensory Concrete Can Be Of Brass, Where Sensory Concrete Can Be Of Glass. Look for more, “Vegas/Brass/Glass… The Final Saga”, maybe, in 2011, if I haven’t been distracted by some other shiny thing (hehe).
Kell’s flight delivered her safely into my hands. Back to Ed and Betty’s place. Time to sleep, and to rest up for mud at 9:00 AM, tomorrow morning. What, no six o’ clock concrete? Now, this is the kind of pour I like!
Part 1 of… A Wintery Trip To Vegas, Where Sensory Concrete Can Be Of Brass, Where Sensory Concrete Can Be Of Glass. Look for Part 2, maybe, around New Year’s Eve.
It’s Christmas Eve morning, as I’m writing this, and, I’ve recently made a couple of trips to Las Vegas. One long ass road-trip, on my own (drinking a lot of coffee to stay awake), and, one via Southwest Air, with Kelley and pretty stewardesses (drinking a screw-driver to wind down). Trips were to coordinate and then place sensory concrete, where the featured components were waves of patinated brass and crushed amber glass.
Places We’ve Been
People Who Love Concrete
And Working With What You Find There
Most places that I’ve traveled to, the concrete has taken me there. And when I’ve returned, sometimes, it’s been because of the concrete. And, sometimes, it’s been ‘cause of the people. And, sometimes, it’s been because of the concrete and the people.
Another Update On The Po’ Mike El Rancho/Retreat, And, An Example Of Why I Am Rich Mike, As Daughter, Kirsten Gets Married, Amongst Cons And Ex-Cons (Concretists And Ex-Concretists, That Is, Hehe…)
BTW, this is the most self-indulgent of all my blogs… A bit like a Jerry Garcia solo! So, if you’re gonna go there wit’ me, ya better light one up!

A Trip To Arizona, Visiting Artist Associate, Emily McClintick And Other Concretist Friends
A final wrap up of my week-long trip to Arizona, for The Concrete Décor Show…
AGAVE LIBRARY, PHOENIX, AZ by architect, Will Bruder + Partners
THE INSIDE
More AGAVE LIBRARY… There’s a lot of sensory concrete here to love. I’m not sure if Will Bruder was aware of or thoughtful about this as he envisioned it, or whether a lot of this was just a lucky accident, but, either way, it’s really cool!

THE OUTSIDE
Just returned from the Concrete Décor Show, held in Phoenix, AZ. I gave the Monday afternoon “kick-off address” and Fu Tung Cheng and architect, Will Bruder gave the Monday morning “keynote”. I wasn’t able to attend but had heard about Bruder’s recent AGAVE LIBRARY, from my panel discussion participant, friend and fellow concretist, Steve Crocker. He presented me with a recent copy of Architectural Record with an article on the library and lots of great pics, and said we had to make a field trip! Here are a few of the pictorial results of that visit…
